I just finished reading Amy Poehler’s new book “Yes, Please!” I have to say, I don’t often read non-fiction, and when I do, I read memoirs even less, but this book had me absolutely rolling with laughter. Amy Poehler is a comedic genius, and someone I find I relate to very well.
She not only tells you about her great success, hard work and sacrifice, while bragging a little here and there, making you wish you could live for one day of her life, but she also is so daringly honest about herself. I found myself feeling validated; that perhaps I’m not as crazy as I think I am, or that I’m not the only one who feels that way. I connected with her a deeper level, which also makes me laugh out loud because the lady doesn’t even know me. But it’s that stark honesty, and self acceptance that gives me hope for my future as well.
If you’re looking for an uplifting read, something that inspires, creates ambition, and makes you belly laugh, I strongly recommend Amy Poehler’s “Yes, Please!” Appropriately titled, I think it’s time we all take a plunge with our lives and say yes to something new, exciting, and maybe scary before this year comes to an end.
Thank you, Amy, for an insightful read!
